DLH Farms
Currently DLH Farms is a concept. However, I, Dakota Harper, have been taking steps towards making the dream of running my very own successful calf/crop operation as a first generation farmer become a reality. Through my education at Olds College I have gained many of the tools and skills needed to start from the ground up. With the 5 year plan I have in place I should be able to take off in as early as 2026.

DLH Farm will be a self-sufficient farming operation raising speckled park and angus cattle for beef production, with the goal to be sold locally. The cropping practices will allow for our cattle to be fed will minimal need for the purchase of additionally feed, but also be sold at market for income throughout the winter months.

Preferably, all of this will take place on the land my family had once farmed, however if that is not possible DLH Farms will remain within my home community of Mountain View County, in rural Alberta, Canada.
About Me

I am Dakota Harper. I am a young woman pursuing a career in agriculture. Growing up my family always had a farm in the family until I was a teenager, then I would help out of friends operations as a way to escape from school or my real job. My passion for farming has been strong from a young age, however after some unforeseen circumstances within my personal life, the weekend hobby farm became a career path I'd previously yet to consider. The challenge to prove my doubters wrong along with the strong desire to own cattle fueled the image I now have for my future operation.
